I work at CIPES as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. I am also an Assistant Professor (Invited) at the School of Economics of the University of Porto.



I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham. During my PhD, I was a visiting student at the IAE-CSIC in Barcelona.

I am interested in Economics of Education, Public Economics, Labour Economics, and Microeconomics.

Bernardo Silveira is an Assistant Professor. He received his PhD from New York University and, before joining UCLA, was on the faculty at Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis. He does empirical research in applied microeconomics, focusing primarily on law and economics and political economy. His work addresses questions concerning information in legal and political environments. He has published in Econometrica and the Review of Economic Studies.

Michael Simmons

I recently completed my PhD at Royal Holloway, and I am affiliated with MaLEc. I will join Umeå University, Sweden, as a Post-Doctoral Fellow (Browaldh Scholar) in September 2021.

My research interests include:
Labour Economics, Macroeconomics and Search

My current work focuses on labour market dynamics and the consequences of job loss.
