Kai Lessmann leads a research group on Public Economics and Climate Finance at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. His research agenda addresses the implementation of climate policies, ranging from game-theoretic analysis of climate agreements to the analysis of second-best and fiscal interactions of climate policy instruments. More recently, his research has shifted to questions of mobilizing private finance and aligning climate policy with frictions in the financial system.

My current research uses laboratory experiments to study individuals' belief formation and belief updating under ambiguity, as well as their aversion against ambiguity. I also study investors' trading behaviors and their market outcomes in financial markets.
